For the first time in memory we have all of our Christmas shopping done at least a week before Christmas. I'd like to say we can kick back and relax, but we have travel in the mix as well. I love Christmas but January just feels so good!

(I'm with Len, the wrapping is the part that wears me out. Getting the gifts purchased is such a hurdle, that wrapping seems like...a kick in the teeth!)

Hey George, thanks for the comment! I agree - we are happier when we turn our attention away from ourselves and on to others and on to the many blessings we take for granted!

The "getting it wrapped" part is a killer for me. I always put it off until the last minute because, well, I can't wrap to save my life!

In fact, I never put "from" on any of my gifts. Everybody knows the gifts that come from me because they ALWAYS have excess paper on the sides that makes them look like they have a case of "Elephant's Man Disease for Presents."

In fact, my gifts are wrapped so poorly they wouldn't be allowed on Misfit Island. Very sad.

Merry Christmas, Jason!

Great ideas on the Amazon lists, never thought of that. I'll use them to fill in the holes for my missing gifts.

Great ideas! I know many people are scrambling to get gifts now!

I think you made 2 really awesome points in your post.

1. It's our nature. It is easy for us to agree with advice and understand ideas that are in line with out nature. For me, I hate giving and getting gifts. But the important thing is to be aware of our nature and respect it. It has a powerful affect on how we interpret the world.

2. It's God's nature. Our whole lives are composed of a continuous stream of outstanding gifts. Christmas is a time to be grateful. It's so easy to get swept up in the holiday consumption frenzy. But I think we are a lot happier when we consume less and feel gratitude more.
