3 Things More Valuable Than Money

by Jason on September 20, 2011

Too often we think money is the greatest thing in the world!  Think about it. How much time do we spend working for it, planning around it, worrying, reading and writing about it, and constantly thinking about it.

We can all agree that money won’t be the most important thing in eternity, but we sometimes fail to realize that money isn’t even the greatest thing in the here and now.

I came across a great post from Matt Perman who blogs over at What’s Best Next on 3 Things more valuable than money found in the Bible.

Matt lists those as:

An Excellent Wife:

“An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels” (Proverbs 31:10).

“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her” (Proverbs 3:13-15).

Suffering for Christ:

“By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward” (Hebrews 11:24-26).

I don’t know about you, but I often need to be recalibrated back to the center.  I need to constantly be reminded that money isn’t the greatest thing even in this world.
