Redeeming Riches Mission
The mission of R2 is to think biblically and practically about our money so we can redeem back the misguided views that wealth leads to happiness; restore the way we handle our finances to become the stewards God has called us to be; and also renew the correct perspective that God himself is the source of lasting joy.
Redeemed, Restored and Renewed
God’s story is a story of redemption, restoration, renewal and hope. Galatians 4:4-5 puts it this way:
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons
We were created to live in harmony with our Creator, but with the Fall of man (Genesis 3) entered sin, rebellion and a new faulty world view that would lead us to think we find our happiness in other things besides God himself.
As a result of the Fall, we’ve all been born and hard-wired with these faulty worldviews and rebellion in our hearts. To put it bluntly – we are sinful – and there is a hefty price to pay for our sin (Romans 3:23).
The good news is that God’s plan was to send his son, Jesus Christ, to bear the punishment that we so very much deserve.
We broke the law, but Jesus paid our fine!! God redeemed his people!
Why We Need Help
We need help in this life because we still have our sinful tendencies and our hearts are easily swayed away from God himself and toward things that don’t really bring us true joy – in the case of our money, we are prone to love riches more than God.
My goal is to provide practical personal finance tips from a Christian perspective to help redeem the faulty ways we handle our money so we can excel in stewardship, acts of mercy and generosity.
It’s All His Anyways
To put it another way – the goal of this site is to help us become the stewards God has called us to be.
A steward is essentially a manager put in charge of another’s goods.
God calls us to manage His resources in a way that most honors and glorifies Him. When we realize that everything we have is His - we start to understand the importance of good money management.
Someday we will give an account of how we managed those resources and I hope and pray we’ll (I’ll) be ready for that day.
About Me
My name is Jason. I’m a Bible-believing Christian, a husband to an amazingly wonderful and beautiful wife Jen, and the father of two beautiful children, Kaelyn and Layton.
I love being a husband and a daddy and I also love helping others grow in the joy of knowing Jesus Christ. There really is nothing greater.
I am a financial planner by day and a blogger by night (early morning!). My aim is to bring my career experience as well as my love for God’s word to the posts that I write.
